Aunt Bea's Dutch Baby
I don't know who this really came from, but this is closest to my memory of the version made by Aunt Bea and Joyce about 25 years ago, with modifier of apples, sort of a breakfast version of apple crisp.
- 4 Eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole weat flour
- 1/4 stick of butter
- pinch nutmeg
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla
- 1 apple, sliced
- half a handful of cinnamon
- handful of brown sugar
- maple syrup
equipment. ~9 X ~13 glass baking dish
Preheat oven to 450 degrees
In a blender, add eggs, flour, whole flour, milk, nutmeg, vanilla. Whip about 30 seconds.
Meanwhile put butter in a glass 9 X 13 baking pan and place in heated oven until butter melts. Add entire egg mixture from blender at once, put in oven.
Coat apple slices with sugar and cinamon.
After 5 minutes of batter cooking, spread coated apples on top of batter. Bake in oven for additional 15 minutes, until sides have risen and are browned.
Remove from oven and serve immediately with real maple syrup.
Serves 4.
